Using Fitiv Pulse with Garmin

If you train with a Garmin GPS watch, you don't need to choose between Garmin's industry-leading GPS accuracy and Fitiv's AI training intelligence. Fitiv syncs with Garmin via Apple Health, combining both platforms' strengths.

How Garmin + Fitiv Works

Garmin devices sync to the Garmin Connect app, which writes workouts and health data to Apple Health. Fitiv reads from Apple Health, so your Garmin workouts automatically appear in Fitiv.

What syncs:

  • Workout data (heart rate, duration, distance, GPS)
  • Resting heart rate
  • Sleep data (from Garmin devices with sleep tracking)
  • Steps and activity data

Training Load from Garmin Workouts

Once your Garmin workouts sync to Fitiv via Apple Health, Fitiv calculates TRIMP-based training load for each workout. This means:

  • Your long Garmin runs feed into your weekly training load
  • TRIMP accumulates correctly across GPS watches and Apple Watch
  • You get a unified fatigue picture even when switching devices

Supported Garmin Devices

Any Garmin device that syncs to Garmin Connect and Apple Health works with Fitiv, including:

  • Garmin Forerunner series (245, 255, 265, 955, 965)
  • Garmin Fenix series (6, 7, 8)
  • Garmin Vívoactive and Venu series
  • Garmin Edge cycling computers (via Garmin Connect)

HRV with Garmin

Garmin measures HRV status on compatible devices (Garmin Fenix 7, Forerunner 955, 265, and later). If your Garmin writes HRV data to Apple Health, Fitiv incorporates this into your readiness score.

For the most accurate HRV, pair a Polar H10 chest strap with Fitiv directly via Bluetooth — chest strap ECG data is significantly more accurate than wrist-based optical readings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does Fitiv connect directly to Garmin? A: Fitiv syncs via Apple Health, which receives data from Garmin Connect. Enable the Garmin Connect → Apple Health sync in the Garmin Connect app settings.

Q: Will my Garmin training stress score (TSS) appear in Fitiv? A: Fitiv calculates its own TRIMP and TSS from your heart rate and power data. Garmin's proprietary training load score doesn't directly transfer, but Fitiv recalculates equivalent metrics from the raw workout data.

Q: Can I use a Garmin HR strap with Fitiv? A: Garmin HRM-Pro and HRM-Run straps use ANT+ as their primary protocol. Fitiv connects to Bluetooth heart rate monitors — if your Garmin strap also transmits Bluetooth (like the HRM-Pro), it will work.
